DevLens is a Chrome extension designed to provide code explanations and summarizations using AI services. We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

2. Data We Collect

• Selected Code/Text: When you use the extension to explain or summarize code, the selected code or text from the web page is collected.
• User Activity: The extension detects when you select text and interact with the extension’s buttons (e.g., "Explain Code", "Summarize Code").
• API Key: If you provide an OpenRouter API key, it is stored locally in your browser’s extension storage.

3. How We Use Your Data

• Selected Code/Text: Sent to the OpenRouter API(we currently use Deepseek R1 Distill Llama free model)to generate explanations or summaries. This is necessary for the extension’s core functionality.
• User Activity: Used only to trigger the extension’s features. Not logged or transmitted elsewhere.
• API Key: Used solely to authenticate requests to the OpenRouter API. It is not transmitted to any server other than OpenRouter, and is never shared with us (the developers).

4. Data Storage

• API Key: Stored locally in your browser’s extension storage. You can remove or change it at any time via the extension’s settings.
• No Persistent Storage: Other than the API key, no data is persistently stored by the extension.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

• No Sale of Data: We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
• Third-Party APIs: Selected code/text is sent to the OpenRouter API for processing. Please review their privacy policies for more information on how they handle your data.

6. Security

• All communication with third-party APIs is encrypted using HTTPS.
• The API key is stored securely in your browser and is not accessible to websites you visit.
